Greetings from the Critique Club :)

I think your photo is a good photojournalism shot... I have read through your comments here and I do see several that recant the rules about photographing art... however, in this instance, 'art' is your journalistic subject. I can definitely see this photo appearing on the cover of a local newspaper to show it off...

Composition:

I think you did a reasonably good job with the composition. Maybe a little angle would have added some impact, but I don't know what is visible here to the right or left of this mural... it could look like crap from any other angle :)

Technical:

The colors seem a little flat. The sunlight could have played a role in this.. I'm not sure if there was a way to make the colors punch harder here or not...

My Opinion:

I gave this photo a 6... slightly above average shot... I do agree with some of the previous comments about having some 'human element' in the photo. I think it could have added a higher impact as a photojournalistic shot.. especially if a few people were standing in the scene simply looking at the artwork....

I think providing a model to stand to look at the mural would give it more interest. It would show community appreciation of the art.

Where in the world did you find such a mural? It's a great paint job and need photo. Political ralley? Nice photo. Good composition with really nice execution photographically. Good job. PTL8

This is dark -- I would like to see it with the colors bumped up. But a great photo nonetheless. muckpond.

Good shot.

how about creating your own art instead of taking a pic of someone elses?-

that's an awesome piece of work, but as a picture it is coming up a little short in my opinion. I'm not sure, but maybe a different angle or perspective, rather than just straight on, or if you could have had someone in the picture to give it a little depth it would be more interesting to me. karmat

Nice shot of a mural, nice subject matter. Would have impacted me more with a peson in the shot... Nice colors

I think I already commented, but anyway.... This would probably be stronger with an actual person in it - even if they were only pretending to paint. It's an interesting mural, but borders on the rule about taking photos of other people's art. Good luck! ~indi

too bad it's not a background of a scene of a cop arresting someone.. or some other criminal activity... otherwise good choice..

What a wonderful shot, very interesting mural. I think that this really needs some people slouched up against the wall though, the human element would have made this a very high score. Natasha 6

And let us hope that all the homeboys will get off their ass and work at whatever it requires to take the first steps up the ladder - as I remember doing in 1942. JEM

I like the picture, but it's almost entirely someone else's art work.

IMO the relationship between the title and picture are key elements in this challenge. You did good, I want to know more.

Very interesting... I would like it if there was the human aspect in it, but the colors are great, and it was a good idea for a photo. I'm giving it a 7!
