I'm afraid this isn't as exciting or as well executed as imagined, though. The pitch as a rather ugly, bright, unnatural green astroturf material, and because of that I was able to crank the levels down and play with curves enough to get the sky that dark while preserving the green on the field.

And of course it's tone mapped, which I do think gives it a bit of a dreamy, empty look, which works (not always, but for this I think it does).

Scott, great work on this shot. It was my pick to win and I'm glad it did. I think you did everything right with your image. I love the subject, concept, the composition, colour, editing........ everything!

Good on you and a blue after only eight challenges. I can't wait to see what other images your going to offer up to us here at DPC.
