 This was taken just before a volleyball game during pre-game practice. The coach, just out of view, was taking strategy the girls.

I dunno...but, I think some people just love to find the flaws in shots rather than the good and actually go looking for them to point out LOL.

I actually think that this is a great shot, not posed for but, the kids noticed the camera, aimed at them and looked.

I gave it a 5 and I see lots of others did as well. I believe its because in this challenge folks were looking for action shots, but of course it didn't fit in with sports without players either ;-)
For me the girl in the front whose eyes look half closed was a real distraction. Might have done better had they all been looking at the hands as if they were getting ready to break and go into the game. I've learned here at DPC you gotta be really careful about stuff like that. Course it hasn't stopped me from entereing such things.

No real action, some motion blur in hands and faces, blown highlights, distracting background - must be the camera, why the background is not OOF at f/2.7

I think your entry is engaging and shows some great faces, but it shows more the 'after the game' rather than the action of the game. For that, I think it was voted low.

I love this in black and white. I wish the kids weren't actually focused on the camera. Kids will be kids!
