My family and I went to the Sunflower Balloonfest in Anthony, Kansas this weekend. Anthony, Kansas is a town of 2,200 people, about an hour southwest of Wichita, Kansas (the definition of the middle of nowhere). Every year, they hold a balloon festival. About 15 balloons take off from the Harper County Airport.
Hot air balloons produce such beautiful colors. After getting a few sunrise shots, I got talking to a local farmer who owned the farm next to the airport and across the street. He was a very humorous guy. The farmer indicated that "more years than not" the balloons are not able to launch due to wind. Unfortunately, I got distracted by the farmer's stories and did not reposition myself away from looking into the rising sun. So, I had to adjust the sky quite bit to fix the washout. But, the balloons still produced amazing colors. |

| ok, I realize it's your highest score...but this had to be the best experience...I had the chance to go to a hot air balloon launch and I was totally amazed by the event...great color and detail... |

Great subject and framing, the only knock is some weird haloing around the people in the foreground and at the interface of the sky and the balloons.
The colors and forms ought to carry this into ribbon contention |
