I had this idea to hide a model in the shadows, some demonic markings painted on him in glowstick juice -- he would look human where the light found him and evil elsewhere. So I got ahold of my friend JT and he jumped right on board with the shoot.
Then I botched it up. Seriously. I know I can't hand-hold 1/8s exposures, but for whatever reason I tried. Lost every shot. I was so bummed about it, it took me almost a month before I even sorted through the folder of images. Hidden Gem indeed, I found a few I liked.
This one is pretty far from the original idea. For one, the markings are tribal, not demonic. For two, this is UV paint, not glowstick juice.
[Tech] The blue glow is the UV light, a big 4-foot tube on the ground in front of him. Kick light is from a home-made strip light powered by two SB-600s.
[Post] All the normal hue, levels, etc., you might expect. The only thing special is that I pulled all the noise out of the image in just the hi-light parts and left the shadowed parts really grainy. |

I can't decide what I think of this one. I do find the blue a bit distracting though. Very well done though, despite my indecisiveness! ;) |

Love this, wish the markings on the face were more "polished". 7 |

Way too much empty space for my tastes. Good effort though! |
