I took two shots of mine from my front porch. One of a sunset, one of a beautiful blue sky (taken today). I desaturated the sunset, upped the contrast to make it look more ominous, then I faded the two together with a gradient layer mask. I printed the whole thing out on glossy 8x10 paper, then arranged the bottle and pills on it.
Taken with a 17-40L at f/16, focused on the bottle label for the proper DOF.
This shot never quite got to where I wanted it, mostly due to technical glitches with reflections. I wanted the orange of the Motrin tablets and bottle to really stand out, that is the product after all. But in shading the setup from direct sunlight, I made the mistake of using a colored envelope I had sitting around. That caused some orange reflections in the storm clouds when saturating it up, which I couldn't remove due to basic editing restrictions. I then tried with a gray shade, but by the time, the light had changed, and I got tripod leg reflections. I covered the tripod with a black sheet, but that cut off light to the back of the Motrin bottle, casting it in an unprofessional looking shadow.
So I gave up, and went with this one. I still think it's an effective ad shot, if not quite technically perfect.
Hope people enjoy it!

Good use of colors. Excellent sharpness of the pills. And a nice idea, btw... |

This is a real advertisement! Is the background a photo?
One of the best! |

Very clever concept, only complaint is the wording on the bottle looks slightly unsharp/oversharpened. |

Very good idea. I like it. Wonder how you could have eliminated the shadow below the bottle. |

This is an incredible idea, which you've executed perfectly. Great color and sharpness, and I particularly like the trial of pills from the right upper corner downward toward the bottle. VERY nice work. |

Unfortunatly the shaddow make it look like pills and a bottle on a photo. Well thats what it is really. Nice idea though. |

Great shot and idea! Especially considering you couldnt edit the stuff in. I imagine an ad agency would edit the bottle and pills in over the pic so it would look more like the product was in the sky. Great job, considering the limitations of the challenge. |
