Greetings from the Critique Club...
I looked through your other entries and this one is quite different -- I guess based on the one comment you marked helpful that you were going for some humor in this entry - looks like not many got your meaning. :)
The compositional elements of the shot overshadowed your main subjects and didn't allow me to concentrate on the table/chairs/purple. The lighting is flat so it doesn't help you accent your vignette (and makes the purple muddy/brownish). The background is part of the reason for eating out but comes across as a separte element competing for "main subject" status vs. adding to the story.
Please pm me if you have any questions on my comments...
Regards,
Theresa |

Where's the purple? The chairs look burgundy to me. |

Wow....I can't help wondering what thought process lead to a shot like this. I can't tell if the intention was to be humourous. The yard is patchy and brown, the pile of wood in the back is unappealing, the plastic chairs and table are even more unappealing. The chairs look brown on my monitor so I don't even see any purple. |

On my monitor at least, the chairs are maroon, not purple, unfortunately. |

The stack (or pile I should say) of lumber in the background looks like a potential avalanche or fire hazard. The chaotic nature leads my eyes straight to the upper left, ignoring the plastic furniture. I'd suggest a much less busy background or at least something scenic to add to the atmosphere and ambiance of "eating out" as your title suggests, rather than detracting from it. |
