There was also a classic car show at the Cowtown Warbird Roundup this past weekend. As I was scoping out this Chevy Bel air for good perspectives, I noticed how nicely it lined up with the F-18 Hornets parked behind it. The contrasts and similarities both appealed to me. The owner of the car was even nice enough to move it around a little so that I could get a better perspective on it.

This is going to be a difficult challenge to do well in because of the very polarized opinions on what the topic really means and the difficulties of using focus blur effectively. I have learned however, that having a strong image is a greater factor in a high average than meeting everyone's definition of the topic.

Anticipated critiques:
-Poor midday light. (It was indeed shot in midday sun. Sometimes you do the best with what you have.
-Car is perceived as the subject and is mostly in focus.
-Not blurry enough

Post-challenge notes:
Well, this proves that even getting positive feedback from 6 other people does not guarantee a good score. All my teammates that responded thought it was a decent or strong entry. Exactly a 5.0000 finish and 1 neutral comment tell me this was totally "meh". The lack of feedback leads me to have to guess at what held it down. My assumption is that too much of the image was in focus. I still like it, regardless of what broad appeal says.

wow I gave this an 8! I didnt realize it ended up as low as it did. I really liked it. Kinda reminded me of a shot you get when you "drop" ur camera and accidently hit the button and are like COOL! that came out kinda neat! which is why you got an 8... cause to me it was a missed focus lol

I gave it, well, a five. I admit to hastily voting, although this did stop me for a moment. I didn't make the tailfin connection though.

I like where you were taking this; I just wonder if maybe there was a more effective composition in there somewhere.

For what it's worth I'm suprised this finished as low as it did but I didn't find it all that interesting and I would never had guessed was one of yours. Unfortunately, it relied on the title to let me know that the car wasn't your intended subject, which to me wasn't obvious. What I really like was the perspective and the sky - especially that reflected on the car. It would have loved to had seen more of the jets in the car's reflection.

At least when you only get one comment you get to know exactly what that person voted. By the way, thanks for my lowest vote ;-) Seriously, thanks for my comment as it did make me look at my shot differently and I could see where you were comming from. Also, in all fairness I'll let you know my vote - a 4 - and having spent more time looking at it now I feel I was a bit harsh (only a bit). Cheers.
