Gah, this shoot beat me up. I wanted to do a sorta over-the-shoulder "ritual" image, like some modern urban mage consulting his spellbook or something. Just, after hours of work, not quite sure how to get it to what I want.
Anyway, technicalities are: livingroom coffee table. 24" softbox directly above the candles, gelled pale gold. Umbrella just below it at table height, gelled quarter blue. Camera on a tripod, the "model" alternating between looking at the computer screen to see how the last frame's head position turned out and posing for the next frame. Yeah, that's me.
The book is a 100+ year old german history text that I have. Honestly I mean to get it appraised, I remember some distant memory like it was smuggled out of nazi-occupied poland or something. I just had to use it as a prop in a photoshoot first. I might not want to do so if it turns out to be worth something. :)
