Challenge: The Color Purple (Advanced Editing II)

Not expecting this to do well, as it's rather abstract. The main gripes I'm anticipating are: oversaturation, boring subject, and too-shallow DOF/out of focus. Personally, I think it's pretty.. but we shall see. :) The title is a lyric from my favourite Cure song, Just Like Heaven. I thought it was strangely fitting.
Editing: Yowza. [deep breath] Hue/saturation, curves, levels, dodging and burning, replace colour, adjustment layers galore, sharpening, very light Neat Image to clear up minimal noises and sharpen a bit more, and some manual blurring. Resizing, cropping, and border. [exhale]
Hoping this doesn't come in last, but I won't hold my breath. :) |

| this is very cool--i think you did a great job with it. interestingly, all the things you thought you would get gripes about--are what i like about it! :) oh and, that's one of my favorite cure songs too! :) |

| The orange background is distracting ,,, the front and lower parts of the flower need to be in better focus. |

| A very unique image with some great purple. The orange is so overpowering - it competes with the flower. Compositionally - the other purple shapes on the bottom right and the bottom - just left of center - should not be there. Whte line in the border detracts. |

| Stunning floral, ala O'Keefe. Love the rich deep tones, composition and dof. It is almost abstract, while retaining just enough information to let the viewer appreciate the actuallity of the components. nicely done 10 |

| I really like the composition of this photo and the shallow DOF really adds a dreamy quality to this image. To make it really stand out, you might try a little dodging on the forefront flower - or perhaps you could have employed a flash to highlight your main subject? |

| My favorite! I love the high color and the use of foreground. If you put this into print, there appears to be a few white specks in the flower you may want to remove. You should score very, very high! |

| Colors are wonderfully vibrant and intense. Composition is interesting and makes me wonder how this was done. You could have cloned out those white specs on the purple flower, though. Good job. |

| Nice vibrant colors. Transition between orange and blue seemed to have been manually blurred in post. Image appears oversharpened. |
