Taken inside at the Houston Zoo. Couldn't use a flash, but I like the moody look of this shot. It makes the frog look very regal...maybe he IS a prince

Art's attempt at fixing the edit!

I think you should have scored much, much better on this on.

It is a great shot and what more can you say? No higher praise can be paid to an image than a Art Job! ;-P

Didn't vote, but free studies seem to be harsh in voting. I think this is an awesome image - love the darkness and the standout color. In a more topical challenge it would yield over a 6, IMO.

I only voted about 25% in this challenge, and thus I did not vote on the image. However, I agree with Cory below. I constantly get dinged in challenges because my shots are darker than most seem to like during voting. So that's a choice of whether to pander to the voters or do what you like.

I think the other reason may be the soft focus. My eye is drawn to two places on the image. 1) To the bright, mid-body spot above his left leg, and 2) to the spot on the log just below his left leg. Because of the shallow DOF, that spot on the log appears to be fairly sharp. But a few inches back, on his eye, the focus appears to be a little softer. I want to look at his face, but the other two spots draw me away from his face.

Personally, I very much like the seemingly selective desat. I can tell that wasn't done, but like the monotone color against the bright color of the frog.

I gave this an 8.. I loved the earth tones with that bright green and the dark moody nature..

I think that it suffered because it's a bit soft and the eye is ?closed?.. Also dark shots don't seem to do well here as often as bright cheery shots..

Shocked this didn't place higher. Doesn't in any way take away from how great a photo this is. I didn't vote on the challenge, but apparently should have.

As I also predicted... you are robbed. Amazing what one more look-alike picture can do to your score.

I also do not think I got a representative score for a real good effort, maybe the tight crop was not as popular. My choice was the detail..

But you did good where 5 is regarded as the benchmark.

Thanks for the offer but I think I'll pass ;-) Like the partial desat look here.
