I have put more effort into this shot than any other shot I have ever taken. Its taken on the hike up Mount Whitney, so this was taken after having started hiking at 1am in order to reach this area at 5am, just as the sun was rising and the moon was setting.
I didn't do all of that with the shot in mind of course, its just that hiking Mount Whitney is a 15-20 hour hike, and the timing happened to coincide when I got to this lake.
The hardest part was lugging my camera equipment up the mountain with me, along with the regular things one brings on such a hike. I had quite a back ache at the end.
The lake is called Mirror Lake, and the moon was even reflected in the lake! But even 18mm was not wide enough to get that moon into the picture, and I could not get farther away either since there was a steep decline behind me.
I love this photo. Could you DPC voters please like it too? Please?

Well, I guess DPC voters do not like it, this is hovering at a 5.2, and I am pretty disappointed. I am starting to wonder if my monitor is calibrated incorrectly. Is this image too dark?
