I meant to metion in the orginial information that when we're riding folks called me Lorena; hence the title.

I've never done a self portrait before. Not too bad. But thanks to all of you I will do better next time. :-)

Can I call you 1orena? or 10rena? hee hee. You look lovely, but got bit by focusing problems and, IMO, a too-busy-too-close background. Hate to say this, but..... you're banned. LOL ;-) Hang in there.

Just a bit more focus would make this shot better.

Well, you had ME thinking your name was Lucy for a while! Focus appears to be on the tree in the background rather than your face. Maybe a pole or something you could focus on in your place could help. Then hit the self timer and switch. As long as I am beating up on you, the details in the hat are overexposed and blown. If not for those issues, this would be a great portrait.

Your portrait needs something of interest -- either an interesting use of the natural light, a clever (though still restrained) pose, something that tells us about what you are, etc. The portrait is too soft, especially at the eyes, where a viewer connects. The background is truly a mess. It would have helped to be in the bokeh, or at least shot from a more interesting angle. 4

I find the subject's face too blurry (yet her shirt seems fairly sharp). If this is because of camera shake, stopping down would have been better, and if not possible, increasing film sensitivity.

I don't care for this. The smile is too forced and the eyes aren't sharp. I think this might be better in a sepia.

Self portraits are always tough especially for things like focus. If your focus had been on your eyes this image would be great. It almost looks like the focus is actually behind you.

The background is also quite busy and really draws attention away from your face.

The pose itself works well and the composition is solid. The shirt you chose is quite complimentary and while quite brightly colored actually helps bring attention to your face.
