I think this is a female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail on a Tiger Lily (the flower I'm sure of). Could have used a faster shutter speed but didn't have a chance to change settings.
Tough exposure situation where I think HDR is quite helpful in PP. Did 3 versions of the original and then processed them as HDR/tonemaps. Used 2 tonemaps to get detail and color the way I wanted them. Might as well play; it's an HDR challenge ;-)
Had the 36mm extension tube on.
PP - cropped, qtpfsgui on light/dark/normal versions to create HDR/tonemaps (v1 - pregamma 1, reinhard05 method, brightness -10, chromatic adaptation 1, light adaptation 0.27; v2 - pregamma 1, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.572, saturation factor 0.99, detail factor 6.9), merged v1 with normal version in soft light mode, noise reduction on v2, merged v2 with normal version+v1 at 30% transparency, cropped, white balance, increased saturation, increased saturation some more on blue, cloned out lily leaf, resized, sharpened, blurred tonemap artifact patterns, added border. |
