What to say? It's the wall of the Suzzallo library on University of Washington campus. Beautiful building, I've been wandering through it in awe since I was a freshman back in '96. Yeeks! So today me n' the hubby went strolling around the school again. It was kind of cute, as soon as he saw me take the camera out of the bag, he pulled out a set of headphones and put them in his ears. Heh, I've said it before, the patience of an angel.
This was a five-stop HDR, hand-held. I've been playing with HDR lately, and my new trick is to convert to linear gamma before developing. My full process now:
For the base images:
1. (Lightroom) Set black clipping to 0 and tone curve to linear.
2. (Photoshop) Load files into layers, align layers, save back out as files.
3. (Photomatix) Generate HDR and get a rough approximation to a good tone curve.
4. (Lightroom + Photoshop) Post-process like usual.
It's step 1 that's new for me. *shrugs* I 'unno. Right now I'm thinking it gives me better results.
