the clarity in his eyes is amazing. was that achieved using post processing or simply crisp focus with a great lens? the words written by mariuca are perfect, i can't explain it any better than she did.

Well, the "Rogain" picture is very funny but my complete favorite is this one. It's the lack of hope that is haunting. The opposite of "tomorrow will be another day" - for him it seems that tomorrow will be just the same day like today and yesterday and the hope in his limpid eyes is for something higher. Forgive my rambling, but for me the implied story is one of the greatest quality of a photograph or any piece of art for that matter. Theaches us to search deeper. Thanks for a splendid portrait. I add it to my favorites

Excellent. I love the b/w here ... not sure which one I like the best of these three but I somehow prefer them to color. It reduces the distractions and makes it more about the subject, in this case. I understand that this is just one opinion.

Between these first two, this is by far the strongest. To me the color does not add, and in fact detracts due to the ever-popular distraction issue. Here, the B&W resolves to the core issue - your shoeshine man and his expression. You've removed the competing elements of the reflections in the glasses, the hats in the windows, both of which stood out in color. Do you agree?
