Rollercoaster model on exhibit at the Lawrence Hall of Science on the UC Berkeley campus.
Isaac and I re-upped our membership at LHS recently, partly (well, maybe mostly) so that I could take my entry to the Spherical challenge. The currently featured exhibit is on the physics of rollercoasters, including test tracks, a simulator, and this complex model coaster.
I tried to find an angle which would make it look a much as possible as if it was a real coaster outdoors at night, and as much complex trackway as I could. Most of the other angles showed shadows cast on the backing wall, and made it more obvious it was a model. Also, the demonstration car moved way too fast to get a decent action shot.
I was pretty happy with the framing and sharpness considering the limitations of being handheld under extremely low lighting conditions. I like trying to bring out dark-on-dark detail.
I don't like riding coasters myself -- though the simulator they had at the exhibit was pretty good -- so I guess I'm happy to "get some use" out of one for a change. :-)
