I like it, but I'm into macro, bokeh, and abstracts. This should have scored at least a point higher (like the average commenter score). Someone else commented on cropping, but I wonder if that would loose some of the fence to convey your idea. Worth experimenting on to see what you can do with it and see what you like for yourself.

The picture alone is good enough -- but it doesn't hold up well under the weight of the title. |

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: The colours here are quite nice; particularly the pinkish cluster, I'm also a fan of the near black sky too - that slight residual daylight blue is compelling.
Critical stuff: Although I'm a fan of the use of blur, I just don't think this image hangs together. I like the idea, but it just doesn't feel crafted. I think a squarer crop may have appealed more - the top 1/4 of the image doesn't contribute much.
Overall: I like the idea behind the shot but it lacks some magic for me. |
