At the breakfast table.

I went to a bookstore downtown to get non icelandic newpaper (and also a big one).

Made some toasts and a coffee. Drank tea and ate the bread during the photography. Well I also had an egg but decided to just eat it instead of have it in the picture.

I just hope voters will not say this is just a newspaper but no words important for the composition.

I used external flashgun and tripod. Adjustments were crop, sharp and levels.

I was first going to make it B/W but diceded finally to use this color version of the picture.

I think your point could be more emphasized by:

*Bring the toast and coffee closer to the foreground edge

*Turn the cup handle more towards the front, and perhaps add a spoon in the saucer with the handle facing the viewer

*Consider accentuating these effects by using a vertical crop/composition, so you can get those elements closer to the foreground

Right now, the toast and coffee look as much like they've been discarded by the reader as they are the breakfast of the viewer ... your title made me study the hands, to see if there were TWO people behind that "large" newspaper dining on something perhaps more satisfying than toast : )

Maybe I'm being picky but counting the number of people, including the one holding the paper, I see five people, six if you want to include the drawing on the coffee mug. Plus the text on the newspaper is not that interesting.

I like this shot. Blue light does not really work (no blue lights in the morning).

this photo not only tells a story, it also is more comprehensive of teh challenge "words" instead of just taking pics of words. nicely done! 8

I like your idea here. The setting is nice in it's simplicity. I get the feeling of breakfast for only one though. And I think the toast is a little burnt, seems kind of unappealing.
