 this is ann-marie who was a blonde about 5 hours ago .. that's her cat tammy who isnt allowed on the lounge .. !!

yes the blur is by duplicating the background layer and doing a gaussian blur on the new duplicated layer .. i then create a mask and paint off the bits i dont want blurred .. this one i did an oval marquee selection just around ann-marie and the cat and feathered it .. photoshop only allows 250 feather .. so i did it twice then i painted black in the feathered/selected oval area ..

Ann-Marie's hair is tres francais (very French LOL). That kitty is either really into kneading the couch, or pissed off. hahaha

I very much like the narrow depth created by the blur. Both the cat and girl seem to be giving you the same look, "wotever". I like the transition from blonde. The new style is a good one.

Edit to add - if you have cats, you can't forbid them to go on things. That's just what they do. Get one of those lint catchers for the hair.
