Using my mother-in-law's air conditioner as a sort of tripod, I captured this picture of their neighbor's house. Very direct late day sun put the contrast, once again, all over the place. Not that I mind much...

My camera is a Helix cigar box about four inches deep. The "lens" is a credit-card sized pocket Fresnel magnifier (like this). The diaphragm (black construction paper) has a circular aperture about half an inch in diameter, although I stopped down to about a quarter inch on this (~f/16). I made the exposure directly onto photographic paper and darkroom developed a paper negative. The paper and chemicals are from Ilford.

Ah, the inspiration for the folks who made Lensbabies! I like the Langolier-ish feel of the house being eaten by time.

Ha. I am there. 1958 suburb and life is sweet, I am so careless a passenger.
