I know it's not easy getting this close to a bird's face, but other than the title, this seems to be stretching the challenge. Also, when you have this opportunity, try focusing on the tip of the beak, but with enough DOF to keep the eyes sharp. This picture could also benefit from more space around the top of the head (the neck feathers don't really add much).

that is almost 3d like....feels like the bird is right at me...I think that is a great effect... did anybody else feel that way too?
