The trick is to take shots when no-one is looking! Easier said than done. I do get looks sometimes. Maybe I am heading for 'character' status. Ballarat has a fair few 'characters', like the woman who argues with herself; an evangelistic street preacher; another woman 50-60 years old, who pauses and strikes ballet poses; Radio Dave (now passed on) who used to get around with a huge boombox perched on his shoulder; and Gavin the **** ****** (too rude) with an unhealthy interest in footwear. Anyway my family, or at least my husband thinks I'm a bit nuts, too. He sometimes tells me to behave myself, so luckily I can take photos in town without him watching me.
My little Olympus camera is easier to use discreetly. I had thought that a camera hidden in cellophane would be invisible, but it's a bit too fiddly.
