Anyone who knows me knows I absolutely adore trees. It's part of the reason we bought this house - with it's many oaks scattered throughout the yard. Yesterday my neighbor calls and told me one of our trees just fell over and most of the foliage was in his back patio (this is a 20 feet tree mind you). Mike came home and with the help of a lawn care friend, they sawed it into pieces and hauled it away. My heart is broken.

With our horrendous drought and 64 days of 100+ temps last summer, I guess the roots were compromised.

I took this with my Samsung Moment phone. I'm amazed at how good it turned out. All I had to do was slightly adjust levels.

Oh dear. I love trees too (you may have noticed!) That's sad.

Seeing trees felled also breaks my heart, Judy. While we don't get hurricanes or tornadoes to rip stuff out of the ground, occasionally we get really freakish gusts, and some trees can't take it. This shot made my heart cringe.

On a separate note, yaaaaay for phone cameras!

I know what you mean about loving the trees. We have oaks, some 80 ft tall or so growing in our yard. I would be totally lost without them, although they are a hazard in hurricanes, we have been fortunate so far. One of the limbs broke off one of ours a couple of months ago, and I still haven't gotten it all cut up and gone yet. The base of the limb is about 30 inches thick and the limb was about 60 ft long.
I'm impressed with the phone pic too. They do a good job if there is enough light, and you don't plan on making the image much larger than this one is.
