A paper effigy of The King of Hades that took months to build and costs almost RM15,000 (USD 4,800) was burnt during a ceremony to send off the King during the month-long Hungry Ghost Festival. The festival is held annually to ensure a peaceful and prosperous year. It is a belief that spirits enjoy a "holiday" when the gates of hell open on the seventh lunar month of the Chinese calendar, allowing them to roam the world of humans. The Chinese believe that this is also the time that those who died untimely deaths take the opportunity to seek revenge. (Source: Visit Penang) Check out my own photo site too.

You can just title it what it really is.. It's interesting. I like the silhouettes. I don't like that street light.

Wow, there's so much detail in the fire - I really like it!

Finally, a photo that's well taken, interesting, and makes me want to know more (which are the criteria I'm using for my Photojournalism challenge votes, anyway). Good one!

tough shot, well done. if anything, i would have looked for a perspective that didn't include the light pole.
