Wanted to put this in the Sunshine After The Rain, but I don't think it would have done well. It was taken after the rain, but doesn't match any of the lyrics, nor will it say 'hope for the future' to anyone but me :)
Not sure how this will do in the Freestudy (also the selective desat may get me into trouble), but I got this idea when I first moved into my new house. After a significant storm, some plants that I had re-planted in the backyard collected water in this fashion. What was significant about them, was that after the transplant, they weren't doing so well and with this rain fall, they started to come alive again!
I didn't get a chance to take a picture at that time; afterwards the plant leaves had opened far enough that they couldn't hold water in this fashion anymore.
So this past weekend I was visiting my Grandmother, and the rain was off and on all day, with pockets of sun. She had these same plants, and they were catching water. Snap, snap and I had the picture I wanted. With the shot, I wanted to make the water droplet standout quite a bit against the plant, so I selectively desaturated it.
To me this s a very inspiring image of life; the entire cycle of it:
* precipitation (birth)
* collection (growth)
* evaporation (death)
* condensation (recycle)
Just one droplet can make all the difference in our world, and that gives me hope. I hope it might inspire others as well.

Beautifully delicate. Lovely in sepia. |

Very artistic. Beautiful tonal range and lines. But the drop in the center (?) really detracts by being a different (and not particularly complementing) color. |
