Words didn't fail, you failed to meet the challenge.
07/20/2004 05:20:34 PM
This was a challenge on words, it doesn't seem as though this is anything with words.
07/20/2004 02:38:19 PM
Look, you took a nice enough photo of a flower, that's true, but why enter it? As is clearly stated in the spec.....YOUR PHOTO MUST INCLUDE WORDS!! Why oh why oh why?? A very poor 1
07/20/2004 08:36:22 AM
Macros of nature are great plus this has the added bonus of the two different textures: the softness of the flower against the hard concrete! Good one.

Gratuitous flower shot, eh? Sorry - no words in your shot...
07/19/2004 08:46:05 PM
Sorry -- it's a great shot but doesn't meet the challenge requirements, IMHO.
07/19/2004 05:34:57 PM
Lovely picture
07/18/2004 11:08:36 PM
Fantastic shot but it doesn't comply with the rules of having words in the picture.
07/18/2004 08:39:51 PM
Take a photograph where complete words -- not just individual letters -- play a creative role in your composition
07/18/2004 08:10:07 PM
read the rules next time please... they are very clear. 1

When words fail.... take a picture of a flower that doesn't have anything to do with the challenge. Once again, a great photo, I really like the water on the petals, but doesn't meet the challange. Sorry!

The words may fail but the criteria was to have complete word! Unfortunatly you haven't got any!

...to appear in a words challenge you get a low score...

While most may mark you as not conforming to the challenge, I beleive the lack of words is still adequate on a challenge about words. Nice, would have loved to think about it !!

...still, the challenge requires words.

where are the words...nice picture of a flower. just a simple prop could have made this fit the challenge.

Nice DOF, perhaps needing the horizon rationalised.

While this picture has no words, its title creates a much more powerful message than all the other entries with words. Yes, there were rules to include words but have you not had misunderstandings were too many words were spoken?
And where there are words, could we also have implied words spoken? So while this picture violates the spirit of the challenge, the sheer strenght of its message is a tender feeling known to us all. To those who have dismissed it for its lack of words, look again and see what is being implied. ...9

I see the symbolism, but don't think it meets the challenge - no words.

wrong challenge sorry

despite the title, the challenge still calls for words to be used in the photo.

OK, I've cut a lot of slack to flower photos, as I'm a bit partial to a nice bloom, but I'll just have to go with what I imagine is the bulk of the voters on this one, and say it dosn't even come close to meeting the challenge.

Beautiful shot. I like the dof. But I don't see any words anywhere.

when words fail, uh, don't enter the words contest? it's focused on the concrete and not the flower...

I think I understand what you are trying to say here, perhaps it would be better if this were on a tombstone and it encluded the words "Beloved Husband" or something like that. It is a very lovey picture, I like the water drops on the flower and the tight foucs, but I have to take points off for no words.

Good picture, but I see no words in it. (I I know you know that due to the title)
That was supposed to be the key element in the image.
If I'm wrong, please PM me.

Without the title, this image doesn't convey anything to do with words IMO. Typically in such a case where I feel the challenge hasn't been met at all, I score an automatic 1. This photo is very nicely done, however, so I gave it a 2. If DPC ever has a flower challenge, you'll be all over it!

A well shot photo of a flower with water drops and a clever title in a words challenge....I hope you get the results you are looking for with this shot.
