 The Amanita Muscaria or Fly Agric is known for it's hallucinogenic properties. It's quite possible that fairy tales originated in the minds of those who consumed the mushroom and were under it's psychoactive influence.
Hence the bright red mushroom with it's white spots is often depicted in fairy tales with a fairie,elve or gnome perched upon it.

Awesome little 'shrooms. I'm amused by the thought that hallucinogens are behind fairy tales ... certainly not an impossible idea ;-)

They do look like make-believe mushrooms!!! Beautiful macro, gorgeously processed. The dof and color really make them pop.

I expected so many fungi shots that I decided not to even try. But I've come across none until now and that doesn't matter because this is not only a great find but so very well photographed. I love it! 9.
