I came up with the title as a combination of the sun at the horizon with the power lines in the shot. It feels like those lines are hooked directly up to the sun.
I finally got some sun at the horizon shots which I had been trying to get for 4 nights and a few mornings. Each of my previous attempts were thwarted by well placed clouds at the exact wrong time. Of course, this could have been an even better shot if there were some light clouds in the sky near the sunset, but alas, we can't have everything we want.
Inspiration for this came from a photo that strangeghost had posted on facebook a few days beforehand. In that shot he had a very large sun (much larger than this due to a longer lens), with some windmills in the horizon. After seeing that, I couldn't resist taking out my 70-300 (at the 300 end) lens to get a similar shot. I really could have used a longer lens, but this works alright (I do get more of the landscape with this focal length).
This photo is taken off the balcony area of the back of Voyager Hall at Epic Systems Corporation. Looking to the west, it's a very nice scene with rolling hills of farmland. Before looking at this spot via a 300mm zoom, I had no idea there were a bunch of power lines riding the horizon.
