Hello from the Critique Club!
......................................................

A formidable looking insect (bush cricket?). This is well focused and an interesting creature.

As some have mentioned, the flash is quite harsh and, as such, this becomes more of a study of the subject than an attractive, vote-winning shot. The shadow obscuring the top of the critter is its main problem really, although the crop of the antenna is bit of a shame but perhaps unavoidable. It's well composed with plenty of texture too.

If indeed you were after votes with this, then you can learn from the score that many people either don't like bugs or are looking for the 'perfect' picture.

Cheers
Jon

Cool bug. Couple things I see that I don't like about the photo. He's crawling (or appears to be) away from you. Moving side to side isn't all bad, but he seems to be going sideways and a little bit away from the camera. The other thing is that you've given him no room on the left side of the frame to move. IMO, there should be a bit more room on the left side to accomodate his body and to give him somewhere to go. Good colors and good find

I can't see enough of either the bug or the environment; kind of frustrating to look at.

I'm not sure what that is, but it looks like you're too close to it. It looks like it could do some damage. Good capture.

Doesn't really say balance to me. I wish we could see his face. Your focus is good along with the color. All the best.

Lovely colours, focus, dof. A real shame the shadow from the overhang obscures his head.
