 "Stop the car." I managed to take about 4 or 5 quick shots. The sun was high and behind him. My first shot was totally blown out with purple barn and bird. (Kind of cool, actually.) I adjusted the levels a bit on this one and decided on sepia.
Seemed to go with this type bird. My guess is a Turkey Vulture. Valuable to the balance of nature for their removal of garbage and disease-causing carrion.

Great shot......really like the composition and the colours. The way you've cropped from the original is perfect! It's definitely one photo I wish I'd taken.

whoa - not quite sharp enough to win maybe but sure desreves a top ten! Balanced composition, balanced colors, balanced theme on so many levels. really great image!

I like the monochromatic color scheme, very subtle, and the contrast is great. The light coming through the wings is definetely the highlight of the picture.

Is that bird real?. The image does show balance but it seems strange but i suppose that gets you looking again.

That is a vulture, right?? Looks rather ominous in sepia...

I love the colouring and the lighting. This reminds me of the old Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds". It has a sort of Gothic feeling to it. The composition and cropping work really well too.
