Thanks for the many comments!
And to add to the forum discussion ... I worked very hard to milk what little texture in the sky there was available this day. Pretty much we had no clouds all week!

A violin score - I'm beaming!!!

Hadn't seen this before. This really puts the ribbon winners to shame. It's not even close with or without the bird.

Really pops - that bird makes the shot. Beautiful work with the processing to bring this out. And congrats on the violin!

I loved with photo right from the moment I first saw it, before the challenge started. Just got around to favorite it, sorry :). The menace of dark buildings closing in on the sky and the lonely bird is just unbearable.

Cripes - voters confuse me! Clouds are the star of the show, not blown-out, surrounded by fascinating silhouettes (loved the jagged shapes against the softly rounded clouds, btw!) and topped off with that bird for a teeny accent piece. For heaven's sake, what more did they want???!!!! lollll This was one of my highest vote-getters! an 8

The lines are a bit jagged (oversharpened?) but wonderful tones and shapes. 7

Images like this make voting worthwhile for me. This is special -- the way the shadows of the buildings have carved out an irregular polygon to frame this. The bird in flight finishes it off nicely.

This was a nice idea. with a more balanced composition and the harsh oversharpening artifacts removed this could be powerful.

Why cant I not get to dislike these shots. 10 Just brilliant. Currently a discussion on the threads about people having better clouds than others. C'mon. This is what Im talking about
