Greetings from the Critque Club!
First off let me commend you on a great idea, and composition - both are superb and I can think of nothig to change in these departments
I think one reason this photo lost marks was simply in overall appeal. While composition was strong, your lighting and coloration lacked something. I think if you had done this against a simple white or black border the majestic nature of the photo would have been demonstrated clearly, as well as drawing more focus to the bright red strawberry suspended in mid air. Currently, the bright background downplays the strawberry.
I think you could have really stunned everyone if you had used selective desaturation here, leaving only the strawberry in color. This would draw all eyes to the strawberry, which is the main subject of this photo. From there eyes would see that the strawberry was suspended in mid-air ~place *GASP* of shock here~!
Personally, I find your lighting to be too noticeably studio type lighting, which distracts from the image, and takes away from the professional quality of the image. The best way to avoid this is to use natural lighting! If you had taken this shot outside you could have a) avoided the shadow that falls across the persons hand - and b) had more evenly dispersed light. Currently the strawberry is a tad blown out on one side, and quite dark on the other. The strawberry has fantastic detail on it, but it is lost in the lighting you have used.
Many people mentioned that your photo doesn't fit the challenge, which in my opinion is a buch of BS! People really had trouble thinking outside the box on this challenge (look at the challenge winners and it's quite obvious) so don't be discouraged! I think you did a good job of fitting the challenge, actually you managed to do it in two different ways, which is even better!
In general, I liked your shot. Your composition and composing idea are strong, especially for the challenge topic, but with a little more time, and some tricks this could've really stunned audiences!
Good Luck!

This is a great photo that doesn't say balance to me at all. |

Nice shot, but even with the title I don't see how it fits the challenge...

A good shot, I really like it. The balance part is a little bit far away. But a good photo. |

Great color on the strawberry and good stop action shot. Not sure I like this photo for this challenge, but it was well done nonetheless - 8 |

Wonderful action freeze. Photo is very clear and well composed. It really doesn't represent balance to me but a solid 8 non-the-less from me. |

Strawberry suspended from the back on a pole? Very cool, I love the colors. |

Very cool idea and execution. Nicely composed and great focus too. I'm not crazy about the blue background. Would have preferred white. But that's only personal taste so nice shot regardless. |

Excellent captuure. The blue background works well with the berry and hand colors. A bit weak on "balance" - but still a nice shot. |

Wish the lighting on the hand were as good as the lighting on the berry. The shadow of the berry is distracting and the hand is a bit too red. That is a perfect berry! Is it stuck to the background or did you catch it falling? It is so sharp I'm assuming it must be stuck. Fun image, |

Great photo! The colors, lighting, composition...all great! The fingers in the background look to be out of focus a bit - or perhaps over-sharpened? |
