 I don't know about anyone else, but I have always found deadbolt levers to look like faces when you put the lever in the right place. What was most difficult about this photograph was making it interesting. At first I tried a straight on shot with a square crop. This turned out to be as boring as could be.

Next, I grabbed my extension tubes (this is why the aperture is so high to increase DOF), so I could get close while providing an angle that adds a bit of interest. Then I pulled the flash off the camera, and used a wireless trigger with a homemade snoot to point the light where I wanted. With a long exposure, I was able to pop the flash from both sides, which gave the mustache look (cool!). Then I used Topaz Adjust more heavily than I had on any previous photo. I'm sure I will get some points off from some people because of this, but I like it, so that's the way it will stay.
