um, cocoa...?
anyway, thanks for all the comments. i wasnt particularly pleased with the final photo, but thought i'd enter something original. some people appreciated that, some people didnt see past the technical failings, and some people just didnt understand the message. it was my first entry and some people appreciated it, so thats fine for me.
:)

LOL!
This theme is good, a lot of things came to mind when I was looking at this photo, made me think. I gave it 6 - probably should have voted it 7 but it laks a bit on the technical side. Well done.

Confusing... and weird lighting with too much on the yellow side. |

I found this image quite odd at first glance. However after looking at it for a moment the contrast between the luxury sweets in the glittering packaging and the stark realities of the hungry third-world become apparent. Then I notice the ominous barcode sitting under the childs face and I think of things like corporate globalization and third-world debt. Is the child peering into a peephole into a strange modern world of consumerism and hectic values or is he disappearing, buried under the refuse of this unforgiving first-world. Your image says these things to me better than anything I could say here in words to you. Well done for making this image. |

I like the tear-away effect. I like a photo with something to say, and this one does have a message while still connecting to the challenge. So far one of my top ten picks. I do think the upper right section has a lot of stuff going on that is a little distracting. |

Pic is dark and focus soft. I fail to see how third world countries suffer at the hands of chocolate producers. Please explain |

This is a very toching shot. I like how you have the people inside of the TORN wraper. |

Great image and message. However the reflections make this a very busy photo. Something about the too bright top of the forehead is distracting too. Nice concept! |

Shouldn't that be a Netlé wrapper then? |

Awesome! - This rocks, possibly the best photo ever. A photo of epic preportions, showing the imperfect equilibrium between the insatiable tenasity of western society and the contrasting poverty of the tertiary world. Perfect! |

While I appreciate the message, the image is so busy that I can't really focus on anything. There is a blown out highlight in the center that detracts from the dark image, and too many lines and colors war together for attention. |

Quite powerful -- I like your approach. Thoughts below as I study your shot...
There are some compositional aspects that take away from your full impact for me. A plainer section of wrapper would work instead of the bar code, the brighter chocolate bar (?) upper right distracts (making it more like the lower left one may work better) -- I like the placement of the face and that it's the brightest part of the shot. The patch to the right of the face is a bit odd in that you have drawn my eye there but I'm not sure what I'm to see. |

Please pardon my ignorance on this, but when the challenge ends, I'd love to know the "story behind the chocolate" |
