 My ambition is to explore the abstract qualities of flowers. Using a lens w/a shallow DOF will help me do this, I hope. I want to get away from the documentary nature of most flower shots & see what I can find that is more abstract, more interesting. All comments are welcome! I will return the favor.

This is a great theme, and you've done well here, as it's a lousy representation of a flower (Joke!) but a great abstract. Cool photo.

Overall, I really like this -- the colors set up a nice contrast, and composition works well, too, I think. For me, personally, if there was just a fine line in focus -- like the petal's edge, not much at all, I think I would like it better.

Yes, this is a nice abstract floral image. It has a wide range of colors from green in the upper left, through yellow, blue, orange(ish), and into purple. Very pleasing to the eye!

What's interesting for me is that your choice of focus has given the edges of the petals a look of crinkled paper.
Also, I find that if I look at the details it's obviously a flower, but if I look at the whole it feels like something quite abstract!
