Jan 8, 2011: Look here for a resolution

jomari guessed it first while a special mention goes to Covert_Oddity for "pestle and mortar" (because I like the interpretation) and to bspurgeon for the title.

Indeed. I'm off balance looking at this in a wonderful way. Awesome contrast and smooth yet textured. Very cool.

The rainbow ring gives away that it is water but I had no idea what the water was on. Very interesting shot!

Maybe because I've been reading today and trying to get a headache, but this shot literally moves around when I look at it. Bizarre in a really cool way.

I like the shapes and tones of this mystery object. I like that I can't tell what it is.

Should I guess? It looks like a pumice stone...? The vague focus is interesting to me...

Pestle and mortar? Interesting shot, the odd selective blur makes me dizzy looking at it!

Interesting shape. Although I hate guessing, it looks like a sponge to me. The whole could perhaps use some more brightness to bring more life in it.

Coral, sponge, stone? The shadow almost gives it a 3-d effect. Good contrasts of subjects.

No it is not immediately recognizable. It is initially disorienting with respect to placement of the ?stone.
