I can't belivee the comments about bland drab flat etc....
I like the composition, depth of field, texture on the side of the rail, and the readiblity of the "commerical 1901".
Did the "1901 Commercial" appear ledgibly from the first shot or did that take some work on the lighting?
Great shot |

have to echo the bewilderment of this getting a blue... seems a rather generic image.
congrats nonetheless! |

No doubt it'll be considered sacrilege to add a negative comment, but I'm shocked this is what took the blue. To me, it seems very flat in spite of the strong perspective lines. The lighting is bland, and the colors are drab. Then again, the voters rated my stupid coin macro at 6+, so go figure.... |

Very nice! As soon as I heard about the challenge, I thought of a shot nearly identical to that one (your background is much nicer though). I had seen a piece of a rail with a date of 1900 on it, and it looked really nice in the morning light. Unfortunately, it was in an oil refinery where cameras are prohibited.
Glad to see somebody else was able to pull off the shot I'd visualized, and did well with it, congrats!

I really like the perspective on this. Im just a bit thrown back with the ground area in the middle. It looks like its a painting. Not consistant with the rest of the photo. Its a great shot other than that and a funny title! |

Good processing and angle. I like the "1901", showing that this is actually over 100 years old./ |

Great perspective and shallow depth of field. Interesting scene in the background that is just kept a mystery as you've got the viewer focusing on what truly matters: the date. Excellent idea and perfect execution. |
