Hmmm...I'm trying real hard - but I must be missing something, here...the title isn't helping me... |

The simplicity of this brings to mind Barnett Newman. But it has a haptic quality more reminiscent of Tapies. It's interesting that I should compare this to the work of painters, but, for that matter, this goes beyond photography. Maybe that's the real challenge for the viewer -- appreciating this as a photograph. It's an image that requires thought, meditation even -- and we just don't do that here at DPC.
Ten. Easily. |

I admit to being captivated by this picture, as I am by others of similar ambition. It's the same feeling I get from looking at contemporary sculpture, or from eating really good sushi ... that my experience of the thing is a part of the thing, that it is meaningless without my engagement with it. Or that I am meaningless without my engagement with it, which is even more exciting. Here the faint marks seem to be more about memory than about any current reality; and the title is so apt for that mood. I'd put this on my imaginary 2010 wall, and be stirred every time I passed by it. Thank you. |

I don't understand this type of image. Is this really your best shot for 2010? |

I'll admit that I'm not as artsy-minded as some here on DPC... but I find this hard to see beauty in and doubt that it's your best work of the year.
Still... to each his own... I'm happy if you're happy. :) (not voting) |
