I agree a little bit of work with the curves on this and then you would have something. Right now everything is around the same tone except the background.

I like the tunneling effect of the glass, its shadow and the shift in horizon inside the glass.
Personally, I would prefer no texture in the background, as it pulls my eye away from the subjects.

I put a photo case for the black background. It has sort of a mesh on the backside as well.

I would play with the curves on this and levels to bring out more contrast and drama. I think that's really all it needs.

Interesting compo. It sorta looks like it could use a bit more work or something to get to a finished product, a finished photo. Are the diagonal stripes in the background from a cardboard?

I like the idea. Perhaps you should have used more light to get stronger contrasts.
