Simple setup of chess pieces. Chess is both a game of offense and defense. I hope the sentinel aspect of it is shown here.

It was a challenge shooting this. I wanted to get some shiny reflections to contrast the black, so needed the flash. I don't have an external flash or gel or anything, so I had to improvise with some paper towels over the flash to make bigger the light. Then when I did that I wasn't happy with the background. So I tried hanging some shirts behind the scene (don't have a studio), but that didn't work too good. I eventually thought of my laptop and I was happy with the look of that. I look at the shots then and notice that the orientation of the laptop wasn't great. Flip it over, and reshoot. Then I looked closer and noticed that the rotation of chess board wasn't symmetrical. Had to rotate it, and reshoot. Then I got this and I had had to set up various compositions of chess pieces. And this is the resulting image after processing.
I like it :)

Great image. Concept and execution were excellent. I like the b/w conversion too. I would have used a more traditional-looking set of chess pieces. 7
