I had a lot of other images to choose from, and some of them might have scored higher than this one (though who knows, we'll see afterwards what this scores).
The main reason I chose this image over others is because I feel that it embodies the year of 2010 for me.

This year is the first year that I was creative with my photography. Where I planned out concepts ahead of time and then found times and places to execute them. Where I discovered that Chalk Story Telling is my own little photography niche that other people find entertaining and that has not been done before, or at least not often.

The one thing I hate about this image is the fact that the snail is sitting on a rock. That was unintentional. I accidentally started drawing the snail too high up, and had to get creative in order to somehow connect it with the ground.
By the way, it was 32 degrees when I took this picture. I was dying!!! After a while I literally couldn't feel my fingers to press down the shutterbutton. I ended up using a stick!

I am super super disappointed with how this scored. Its a huge downer.

I gave it a 7, but I think there are many reasons this didn't score as high as the others.

The crop on the feet is uncomfortable. There's a horizon drawn on this one, I think that detracts. And the snail just isn't as impressive as a dragon or cats and dogs. I like you others so much better, but I still found it worth a 7.

ahhh yes, i know the feeling well. i had a free study entry once that scored in the 5's and i was so irritated that i posted a rant in the description in which i swore off free studies forever, obviously that didn't last long. Dont let it get you too down. your score is not so much what people thought of your picture but the competition that surrounded it. think of all the amazing photographers on this site, they all get to pick from ANY shot they took during the year that didn't get into a challenge! it's pretty hard for any of us. keep shooting, you are improving all the time since you came here!

you've done well with these shots...only thing that troubles me is the cropped feet, otherwise it's great 7

Chalk up a good score for creativity and humor - love the expression on the model as she fearfully explores the chalk world she has been 'shrunk' into. Only small (tiny really) critique I can give is that the hat could have either been lightened so that it doesn't blend into the blacktop or a different color hat that would have contrasted better.
