I've shown this scene in a SC back in October, but it looked a worthy shot for this challenge. This tree... I love this tree, hanging over the road for who knows how many years. Centuries probably. Like the silent guardian of the road. As I was walking around it looking for a perfect scene, I could hear little cracks, like it was struggling with age... it's still alive though, there is some green on it in spring.
I took 3 shots of this, tried out Viveza and it really does magic here. The sky was distractingly bluish, so it had to be desaturated and cleared of some detail. What I like about Viveza is that it frees you of thinking technically, you can focus on important questions like, what are the distracting elements in my picture? In this one, I'm stuck in those questions because the shot is obviously much busier than I would like, but it's a tree, there is no other way around it. I've simplified the surroundings as much as I could with the setup of the scene, but it's still a big, branchy tree. Still I love that tree and this is how I see it.
I had another scene for this challenge but it didn't have a dominant enough sentinel. Still I'm not sure how this will do. My guess is under 6, but for recent challenges I woke up on the first day finding a 4.8, so ... :). Some harsh voting on DPC recently. |
