Beautiful abstract composition, so painterly.
Just left of center near the top there's a spot where the wave meets the shore that is a natural occurrence but looks like a smudged fingerprint. It's odd how it keeps catching my eye! Anyhow, I really like this photo. |

The perpendicular intersection between natural forces bent on conquering each other. |

There is something about a wave going out and the sand, smooth yet textured, that delights the eye. The smell of the sea and the sand between the toes, this draws me right in. |

Paul said it well...boredom does not equate with this image. |

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: A simple shot, well made - an exercise in demonstrating that less can be more. The contrast between the graining sand and the smooth water layer on the saturated sand is lovely. I also like how the stick penetrates the sand, like a boat passing through a wave - how fitting given where its vector leads us.
Critical stuff: Nothing really.
Overall: A satisfying image that is just right in a number of ways. |

Well, I know it's you Z, because I saw and admired it elsewhere. But I'd almost certainly have known anyway; it would have been a choice of just two people. It's my clear top pick in the challenge because it's beautiful, deceptively simple, and I looked at it for longest and never got bored. Thank you. |
