First off I like the "pun" in the title!
I do do graphic design : )
I agree, the type color does not work that well with the sky color. If you really want the blood-red in the type, then I'd try one of these workarounds:
--create a mask and lighten the blue tones of the sky without changing the birds
--use either a black or white drop-shadow under the type
--change the type to black or white, with a red drop-shadow |

Greetings from the Critique Club...
This is a nice capture of the turkey vultures. I have a difficult time evaluating challenge photos of this nature, because the photo itself is not the only element that determines how strong the entire presentation is. The text is the other part being judged, along with what it actually says. With my limited knowledge of graphic design, I would agree that the text in this image is a bit 'loud'. I'm not sure how to suggest much improvement with this idea and theme.

Not so sure about the font used, I see it's purpose, it just kind of jumps out is all.

I don't think the red font suits the photo well. I think a more neutral colour like black or white would be better. |
