I took the train into Nagasaki at 6:30 am hoping to catch a nice sunset. Unfortunately it was too cloudy, so I changed direction and headed to this famous bridge, which was built in the 1600s. It is named "Spectacles Bridge", because with a nice reflection it looks like a pair of glasses. The lines in this picture follow my route as I walked along the river towards the bridge taking more photos before a nice nap!
The Nagasaki Lantern Festival is currently being held to celebrate the Chinese New Year, so normally there are tons of people in this area. But at this early hour there was no one in sight, and the area took on a calm, slightly unsettling atmosphere. I took a lot of other photos on this day at the festival, many that I like more than this one, but I felt this was the only one that met the "Leading Lines" criteria.
I upped the ISO and opened up the aperture in order to get a good handheld shutter speed, because there was no good place to set up my cheap travel tripod.
This is my first submission to DPChallenge. I hope to submit many more in the future! |
