| The colors, exposure, tones, and composition of elements really feels like a weathered Norman Rockwell's Saturday Evening Post magazine cover. Great eye to have spotted this story. The slump of the shoulders of the man with one leg is of weariness; tired...sadness. The crutches lay just in reach but he has set them aside to rest his weary body. The irony is that the sign behind him says "Play, because you can". There is no mirth in this man's posture. This is a highly emotional piece. |

| The treatment of the shadows define this photo. Very little in their overall abundance, but striking in their strength. It adds a starkness to the scene. |

Play because you can. And he can't. Touching photo. Makes me pause for a while and think about the things that I have and take for granted. Im skipping the bus today when I go to the market. It's only two stops away and I don't mind my legs getting worked out.

| The weathered wall is a great foil for the down-on-his-luck man. The bright little 'PLAY because you can' sign above him is an ironic touch. |
