 February 2011 Hidden Gems SC - Day 11

This is my daughter Audrey. There's several technical things wrong with this shot. The shadows behind and around her are not very good. I tried to bounce a flash, but I couldn't get into the bathroom enough to get some light behind her. Despite that, I did like how the black & white / sepia conversion went.

Audrey just started crawling a few weeks ago and clearly has started to get into everything. When I came around the corner and saw Audrey with the trail of toilet paper, my first thought was, "get the camera".

The shadows you noted are there, no doubt, but because the overall exposure of the wall is pretty low, they aren't horribly noticeable. You could always smudge them out in a fan pattern if they really worry you that much, but it's nice as is. A great moment captured, surely one to look back on later and haunt your daughter with.

Great photo. I like the strong blacks and overall contrast. Such a cute model you have. Contrary to what you think, I think you did great in controlling the shadows and light.
