Challenge: Everyday Objects (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 8700
Location: Parking garage for San Diego Convention Center
Date: Jul 24, 2004
Aperture: F2.8
ISO: 50
Shutter: 1/5
Galleries: Interior, Urban
Date Uploaded: Jul 25, 2004

This happened by accident. I was messing around with my camera in the elevator at the parking garage and took this. Wow. It was perfect, well just about. I tried re-taking it later to get it more centered and to have the lighted number be in the center, but there was an object in the overhead light that messed the whole thing up, so I had to stick with this one.

It's amazing how over-rotating it by like .2 allowed me to make it look like it was centered...

Editing: Rotate, Crop, Color Balance...Color Balance...Color Balance...and Color Balance (seriously I tried about 8 different color "schemes" and uploaded 3 different ones before settling on this), Resize, Sharpen.

Lopsided or not, this was a tremendously underrated image. Just found it now, - I really like the green cast here, lighting is brilliant.

Thanks everyone for your comments! It actually IS straight and not lopsided (try making your window not maximized and meet the sides of it with the doors and with the numbers...straight I say!), it was just hard to get it to even look this even from my original which was off center (I guess it needed to be perspective adjusted but you can't do that in basic editing).

Yeah...it did, I kept wanting to comment in the forums about how my title was matching my score...although it went up from the last time I'd checked (5.0 Mon evening to 5.2 at the end). But it's still not as high as I'd hoped.

there's something futuristic about this shot... i guess it's the lighting and the metal doors. very nice. 8

I like it! Great contrast.

the hue, blur and slightly off angle really make this shot. the lighting is subtle and deep. I can't say exactly what I could improve on here... almost a Matrix-like feel. Excellent. [8]

this would be more effective if it was rotated and centered so that it is perfectly symmetrical. and numbers need to be more focused.

This makes me think of the song by Aerosmith... "Going... down?"

Should have cropped straighter. Photo is lopsided.
