This is a last minute idea. I set up a bunch of glass "pearls" on a sheet of white paper and put a mirror 45° on top of it (mirror not showing, didn't use any of the mirrored shots) and lit it with a 500W hallogen working light. Took a bunch of shots and picked this one for submission. The title is a bit wierd, but then again most band names are.

Hi Haraldur and Greetings from the Critique Club.

The DPC band challenge was an awesome collection of imaginative and creative submissions. So first, please don't feel bad about your placement - the competition was fierce.

Your image has a lot going for it - a nice idea, well laid out. The placement of the single blue drop is great.

The things that detract from the image is the focus and lighting.

You shot at f4.0 which cased a really shallow depth of field. If you have a tripod, try the same shot again, but taken at the highest aperture you have. Or, try to shoot so that all the pearl drops are about the same distance from the focal plane. (More of a looking down from the top perspective.)

The harsh lighting caused many areas of over exposed highlights or glares. Instead of a halogen light, could you take the studio setup outside - or at least close to an outside window? The lighting should be less harsh and should remove the really bright areas.

Keep shooting and entering.

Maby if you would have used more apartuer you could have had everything in fockus. Maby you wanted to have it like that but for me personally i think it could have looked better with the hole DOF. Because I really like the reflection on the drops. ( trees and the sky i guess?)
Good idea. 6

The band name is absolutely horrid (in my opinion) but this shot makes for a good album cover that I think would work well.

Nice picture...howver, the title doesn't seem to fit that of the band. Anyway, the bottom line is....I like the picture. 8

I originally said it didn't meet the challenge, I was wrong. I misunderstood the rules - sorry.

The highlights are too blown out, which is a shame, because otherwise this is a pretty ncie photo.
